Members/Admins Guide Book
New trainee Members
When you are invited to become a "trainee member" you have to accept all of our rules, and to take an oath regarding them. If you don't agree with one of our rules you may refuse to be a member, telling us your reasons.
Your trainee time will be 4 weeks duty, and in this time we will evaluate if you will become an effective member at level 8. During this trial time you can also decide to resign and return as normal player by an announcement in our members area.
After 4 weeks of trainee status, you must post an application in the members area, and all members will decide through a vote, if you become an effective member or not, but however the final decision will be taken by our administrators. When you become an effective member you declare you have understood all our rules and accept them without reservations.
Member behaviour
All members need to respect other members and admins. By this we mean that we want you to use a hierarchy: a body of persons having authority in which each element is graded or ranked in an upward scale and you must respect the decision of a higher member/admin.
All quick decisions will be made by who have the highest adminlevel present, if you have any views on the punishment that has or is about to be given, then pm the highest admin to express your point of view.
Under NO circumstances are any adverse words between members and admins to be spoken in the general chat.
When you are and have the highest adminlevel present, the server is under your control and you need to make decisions to make it a fun and happy place to play.
You have commands that do important functions, so try to learn what they do, and what to use them for. Use them wisely.
Avoid using your commands for your own pleasure. Commands like Pip or Pop (or similar) may only be used during the intermission or warmup - not during game sessions. Don't freeze all players at once with !freeze in replacement of pause/unpause command. It is an abuse that will be punished with the removal of that command from your account.
Don't forget that as member you still have rules to respect.
Players management
At Dark Alchemy we want ALL members to work the same way so there are no misunderstandings on punishments.
If a Member/Admin detects a player breaking a rule, doing something not in line with our Players guide, and there is no one Admin present, then you can apply as punishment the following order:
- Ask the player to stop
- Warn or Mute the player
- If needed, Slap, Disorient, Freeze
- Kick the player
- (ADMINS ONLY) Ban the player for (60 - 3600 seconds)
- (ADMINS ONLY) Perm ban. (This will be reported and discussed in admin forum).
The ban is dependent on what the player is doing. We don’t want to ban a lot of people. We all need to help players to become good Alchemy players.
If we all administrate the same way starting with warnings and progressing upwards, then our server will be a happy server!
We don’t want to be known as a hard / poorly administrated server.
Promotions / demotions
Members can start a topic asking to promote someone, one level at once, new trainees excluded (they can propose trainees from low levels as well). Head administrators can release more levels at once, even though the standard rule is to apply "one level at once". For every successful proposal the Dark Alchemy owner has the right of veto. He has the last word, without any conditions.
Promotions are regulated following these rules:
- Promotion of "Players" (level 0-6).
Members can make proposals in specialized crew "Players Promotions (A-Z list). For levels 1-3 contact Players Promotion crew and for levels 4-6 open promotion request when everyone is able to vote.
- Promotion of "Trainee Member" (level 7).
Members can suggest promotions in the "New members suggestion" forum area only. Then the candidate proposal will be discussed in the admin forum. The decision will be reported to all members. The new trial members will be evaluated for 4 weeks to see if they can become a Member level 8. After 4 weeks expires, the Membership approval it's regulated by the rule explained in the point [1.1 New Trainee Members]
- Promotion of Members (level 9-11).
Members can suggest promotions in the "New members suggestion" forum area only. The proposal pass if all votes are in favour. Otherwise it will be discussed in the Admin Forum. The decision will be reported to all Members.
- Promotions of Admins (level 12-15).
These promotions will be discussed in the Admin Forums (AF) or in the "new members suggestion". The proposal may be eventually discussed in the admin forum, then the decision will be reported to all Members.
For levels 7 to 11, the proposal will pass if more than 50% of the votes are in favour, then the AF discuss for the approval. For levels 12 to 15, the proposal will pass if more than 70% of the votes are in favour, then the AF discuss for the approval. For all levels the promotion will pass without the AF intervention if all the votes are in favour.
Members inactivity
After 60 days of inactivity, the member status will be set to "I" (Inactive), then if the inactivity persists for 30 days more, the member will be dropped and the adminlevel will be set to 6. To avoid to be dropped after 90 days, a member can announce his long inactivity with a valid reason. This long inactivity can't be more than 120 days. After this time the member will be removed from members list.
Members Names
When you play ET, your nick must be the same all the time, so that we may identify you without doubt. You can have an "also know as: AKA" alias, you can use it sometimes but not frequently. The AKA name can be changed after one year, after a request in the members forum. You may change your nick colours with an exception for the tag which have to respect the DA colour combination, as explained in our section Members: How do I colour my Tag?
